“A short, primarily fictional introduction to how I used artificial intelligence to simultaneously fix and create problems while generating a cascade of music, imagery and anxiety that turned cash to cache.” — A Synthetic Collaboration

Essays on writing with and against machines

Prompts and Personas is a collection of essays, field notes, and speculative memoirs exploring what happens when human interiority encounters computational language models.

Rather than treating artificial intelligence purely as a productivity instrument or an apocalyptic replacement, these writings examine it as a mirror, a foil, and an eccentric collaborator—one that reveals how much of our own communication is habit, cadence, and persona.

The shape of the book

The manuscript brings together three interlocking movements:

  • Prompts as mirrors — How framing questions to large language models forces writers to confront their unstated assumptions, aesthetic dogmas, and narrative blind spots.
  • The fiction of identity — Exploring persona architecture in music, synthetic dialogue, and virtual companions: where does the self end and the prompted persona begin?
  • Berlin notebooks — Observations on memory, displacement, technology, and everyday human vulnerability written across Berlin’s changing seasons.

Current state

The book is currently in development as a limited-run print edition and an interactive digital reader. This portfolio documents its ongoing essays, typography experiments, and visual language.
